Hello everyone.  The video below is an overview of our first level.  It is still a WIP and will incorporate some more elements and architecture as well as the alien creature.

Hello everyone. I apologize for the lack of updates lately. The project is progressing now and things are coming along. Here is a report on what is happening:

Story: We are going all out on story development. Our writer, Michael is developing a strong backstory to the planet Otto lands on. Details will be coming in increments.

Art: We have new concept art based on the additions to the game development.  Below are a few examples:

Artist: Jose
A concept of the creature that has engulfed the planet.

Artist: Olivia
A depiction of the planet before and after the creature landed on it.

The rest of the concept art will be on the Concept Art page.

Soon to come:

Look forward to updates in: animations, sound, models, and more concept art!

Updates: Character Design Page and Technical Development Page

For organizational purposes we added a couple of pages.  I created a page that focuses on the character and his development from concept to 3D to being put into the game engine.  All animations and updates with Otto will be displayed in that page.

Bret, the Technical Director, created the Technical Development page.  This will cover the technical development workflow and any updates by the people behind the UDK engine.

I also updated the Level Design/Gameplay Mechanics page.  The game will be broken down into individual sections and will be given a description about  the gameplay mechanics and structure of the level.

More updates will be coming.

Welcome to the Development of Cosmo APE

This is the first post for the development of Cosmo APE.  I have created a Story Development Page as well as a Concept Art page so you can explore the early development of the game.  Please keep checking these pages for updates as well as the regular posts from our development Home page.

This is a collaboration between the Computer Art Club and ACM Computer Science chapter at Bowling Green State University.  Using the Unreal Development Kit we are creating a simple game centered around a chimp named Otto, who crash lands on an alien planet and must find a creative way to escape.  Our goal is to learn how to effectively collaborate and prepare us for the industry in game development.  We are all students who are passionate about having fun and creating something interesting for everyone to enjoy.

Be sure to follow us as we develop Cosmo APE.
